1.To be caught with your hand in the cookie jar /当场逮到
你是否会因为多吃了罐子里的饼干而满怀愧疚？如果是，那这个词汇就太符合你了！这个短语比喻“某人因为做错事或调皮而被逮个正着”。
2.Easy as pie /易如反掌
这个短语指“很容易完成或处理的事情”，根据《牛津英语大辞典》（OED）的记录，在20世纪初期开始出现。看来吃一小块夹心饼确实是小菜一碟。
3.The icing on the cake /锦上添花
与“cheery on top”短语意思相近，这个短语指“在已经很好的事物上添加额外好处”。如果以讽刺性的方式使用，还可以表示相反的意思。有蛋糕本来就已经很好了，如能再有糖霜或樱桃岂不是更好。
4.To take the biscuit /出类拔萃
英式英语中使用该短语指“同类中最为出众的那件东西”，其具有讽刺性的用法指“愚蠢的或令人生厌的东西”。北美英语中使用“to take the cake”表示相近意思。
5.To have a finger in every pie /什么都插手

7.To have your cake and eat it too /鱼与熊掌不可兼得
你不能兼顾拥有两件渴望中的、绝无仅有的事物，正如孔子这句名言所表达的。这个习语因为出现在1562年版John Heywood的Proverbs, Epigrams, and Miscellanies（《格言、警句和杂记》）一书中，因而第一次收录在《牛津英语大辞典》中。
8.As American as apple pie /就如同苹果派一样的美国化
苹果派被认为是标准的美国食物，因此这个习语表示“体现传统价值观，尤其是美国的理想”。而在澳大利亚，你更有可能听到的是“as Australian as meat pie”（就像肉派一样的澳大利亚式的）。
9.Cake hole /嘴
填蛋糕的洞？该词是口语化的用法，表示“嘴”，最常出现的句子就是“Shut your cake hole!”（闭上你的臭嘴！）。这个用法的起源不言自明。蛋糕自然是要用嘴来吃的，渐渐地也就演变成“嘴”的意思。
10.To sell like hotcakes /热销
这个习语指“迅速而大量售出的某物”。那到底hotcake是什么呢？在北美，hotcake指代任何一种用煎锅烤制的蛋糕，也包括煎饼。
11.That’s the way the cookie crumbles /生活就是这样
这句话是一种非正式的用法，尤其在北美地区，表示实际情况如此，虽不尽如人意也只能接受，正如“生活就是这样；命中注定了”。这一习语最早出现在20世纪，在美式英语中，也有类似的表述，即“that’s the way the ball bounces”。
